The County experienced a lack of support and customer service with their prior vendor. Staff struggled to connect with representatives from their customer support team, and it became increasingly difficult to find answers to remedy their concerns. 


Laurens County decided to explore their options with software providers and sought out one that would provide more value and support. After meeting with Edmunds GovTech (EGT), the County found that EGT had a vast amount to offer and an exceptional service level agreement for customer support. Ultimately, they decided to switch to Edmunds as their new provider to solve their revolving issues. Multiple modules were implemented along with a new standard of customer service. 


County staff found EGT’s solutions to have the benefits and robust features they were looking for. Donna Lumley, CPA, Finance Officer at Laurens County, took notice of EGT’s commitment to customer service soon after starting her current position at the County. She previously had used a variety of software that was tailored for local governments throughout her career but was unfamiliar with EGT’s software. With never previously using EGT solutions, Donna struggled adjusting to the new system because she was also coming to up speed with office processes and functions. Since EGT deploys a variety of resources to help clients understand how to use the software, the learning curve became simplified for Donna as she settled into her new role. “An EGT rep came on-site and provided us with additional training,” said Donna. “They were wonderful and very helpful for our team.”  

In the Human Resources office, HR Manager Tammy Surine commented on several of her favorite features. The mass SMS text message feature is one that has made a significant difference with her communication efforts that are directed towards County personnel. “When I need to notify everyone on our staff at one time, it is so much easier for me to do so by using the text message feature,” said Tammy. “Whether I am messaging about County updates, benefits, or meeting times, I have found that it is more effective to communicate via text rather than just utilizing a standard email.” She also noted the ease of completing an exception-based payroll and the seamless integration into the finance module for journal entries and agency payments which allows for a fluid workflow process.
