Who They Are

The Western Allegheny County Municipal Authority is located in Oakdale, Pennsylvania within North Fayette Township, residing just a few miles away from the Pittsburgh International Airport. They have been clients of Edmunds GovTech (EGT) for more than 20 years. 

Stacey Altman and Flo Flenner are integral staff members at the Authority who oversee many functions. Stacey joined their team as a Financial Clerk in 2021 and Flo Flenner, the Executive Assistant, is in her 8th year of tenure in 2024. 

Their operations have experienced significant growth in recent years and is forecasted to take on more than 1,000 new customers within the next half a decade due to increasing local development. They are happy to have software that is scalable and can grow with their increasing number of customers. 

What They Handle

In 2021, the Western Allegheny County Municipal Authority took over billing operations for North Fayette Township who handled the processing of billing for sewage, trash, and storm water fees. Since both entities utilized EGT solutions, management decided to have one team handle all billing functions. Prior to taking on the additional billing facets of the township, the Authority was solely billing for water.  

The Authority now bills for both commercial and residential accounts on different schedules. When combining both types of accounts, they provide billing services to more than 8,000 customers. Stacey primarily handles work orders, payroll information, and billing while Flo assists with billing and oversees administrative functions. Flo also utilizes the software to run reports for board meetings to effectively communicate data from the system. 

How Edmunds GovTech Makes an Impact

The Authority is preparing to take on several new customer accounts in the coming years. The staff is confident they have the software tools they need to handle the inflow of additional tasks as Edmunds GovTech’s solutions are built to handle growth, and can scale to the needs of the client. 

Outside of the office, their team in the field who maintain water lines and set up new services, also benefit from the software’s capabilities. When maintenance staff are providing on-location service to customers, they have efficient access to customer information via the software. EGT’s software allows them to quickly find the customer information they are looking for and helps keep their data organized. This is of high importance to The Authority as it helps them respond better to waterline breaks and emergencies.  

“We deal with water meters, so we upload curb box locations which is a huge time saver to our employees in the field when they need to know a location,” said Stacey Altman. “Information is always readily available and one of my favorite features is how you can document and upload everything directly to resident accounts. There is so much the software does to help us.” 

It was also noted that any work orders and client issues can be easily documented directly for the account when using EGT billing software. The Authority uses the general ledger import feature of EGT’s software to bring in data from other systems.

Lastly, Stacey was pleased to share that she sees Edmunds GovTech at local conferences every year and is able to chat with EGT staff in person.
